​A strong earthquake shakes Japan

An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 on the Richter scale shook today the Japanese island of Tanegashima, reported the United States Geological Survey (USGS, for its acronym in English), without reports of casualties or property damage.

According to the USGS report, the epicenter of the earthquake was located about 16 kilometers southeast of the Japanese city of Nishinoomote, located on the affected island.

The tremor was detected was located at 35 kilometers of depth.

For its part, the Japan Meteorological Agency explained that the quake had a magnitude of 5.9 and that there is no threat of a tsunami.
