DPRK slams U.S. human rights report

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea () Wednesday lashed out at the U.S. State Department's annual human rights report, calling Washington the "worst human rights abuser".

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the DPRK's official news agency, said in a commentary that the United States had arbitrarily judged human rights performances in 199 countries and viciously slandered the DPRK.

"By nature, the U.S. is the worst human rights abuser with neither justifications nor face to talk about human rights of other countries," it said, pointing out the frequent gun-related crimes in the United States.

Dismissing the report as "a wanton distortion of genuine human rights and an intolerable challenge to international justice and conscience", the commentary said it revealed "the U.S. sinister intention to check the advances of the DPRK and bring down its social system".
