The Kazakh president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, expressed his confidence that the commercial exchange with Russia reaches this year the 18,000 million dollars.
"In the first eight months the trade exceeded 11,000 million dollars and we assume that towards the end of the year it can reach 18,000 million," Nazarbayev said when inaugurating on November 9 the 15th Kazakhstan-Russia Regional Economic Forum in the Kazakh town of Petropavlosk.
The event is attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Some 500 businessmen and senior officials from both countries also participate.
"Russia is our strategic ally and an important trading partner," said the Kazakh leader.
