"This morning, I asked the State Department to provide the Foreign Affairs Committee with written evidence that Venezuela meets the criteria set forth in the statute, if the president (Donald Trump) intends to do so, he must prove that Caracas "He has repeatedly supported acts of international terrorism," said the congressman.
The Washington Post reported that the Trump government is preparing to add Venezuela to the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.
The Democratic legislator added that so far he has not seen any evidence of Venezuela's support for international terrorism.
The US list of Sponsors of State Terrorism should be used judiciously to maintain its seriousness and integrity, and the added countries must comply with the legal requirements, Engel said.
