The president ofEcuador , Lenin Moreno , analyzed today in Bogota with his Chilean counterpart, Sebastián Piñera, how to expand cooperation in the energy, mining and commercial sectors, informed the Ecuadorian Communications Secretariat.
In a communiqué, the government entity specified that among the issues discussed in the Colombian capital were the Andean electricity interconnection and the Llurimagua-Codelco mining project , as well as investment treaties and air connectivity.
The meeting took place as a result of the participation of both presidents in the inauguration ceremony of the new Colombian president, Iván Duque, held in Bogotá.
According to the document, in the interview Moreno and Piñera reviewed the status of the Andean Electrical Interconnection System (Sinea) that will allowEcuador toexport energy to Chile in the future, a task for which joint tasks must be implemented.
The statement said that Chilean mining minister Baldo Prokurica plans to visitEcuadorin September in order to monitor the progress of the works that are being carried out in the mining project, located in the Andean region of Imbabura.
Regarding the air connection, the presence in Ecuadorof Chilean airlines such as Latam and Sky Airline will be promoted .
