Peru: The President of the Judiciary presents his resignation due to the serious crisis of corruption

The president of the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM), Orlando Velásquez, also presented his resignation this Thursday.

The president of the Judicial Power of Peru, Duberlí Rodríguez, resigned his office on Thursday in an "irrevocable" way, in the middle of a crisis due to corruption cases involving high members of the Judiciary.

The Full Chamber of the Supreme Court will evaluate Rodríguez's decision starting at 12:30 [local time], the agency reported on Twitter.

Officials present their resignations, after a scandal erupted last week over the publication of telephone calls that revealed a wide network of influence peddling at the highest levels of the Judiciary, involving high magistrates as well as politicians and entrepreneurs of the country.
