The president of the People's Supreme People 's Assembly (APS) of North Korea , Kim Yong-nam, arrived in Venezuela on Monday in what will be the first stop of a South American tour in which he will also visit Cuba and Mexico.
The North Korean leader was received by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza and by the second Vice President of the Constituent Assembly, Gladys Requena, at the Maiquetía International Airport.
The visit of Kim Yong-nam has "the objective of strengthening ties of mutual cooperation in economic and trade issues, as well as strengthening diplomatic relations " between Venezuela and North Korea, said the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry through the social network Twitter.
Later, the Asian official hopes to meet with Venezuelan PresidentNicolás Maduro .
In March of this year, North Korea expressed its "support and solidarity" to the Bolivarian Government and in September Arreaza himself began the deepening of relations when he met in New York with his par Ri Yong Ho, during the General Assembly of the Organization United Nations (UN).
