President of Ecuador appoints new ambassador to the UN in Geneva

President Lenin Moreno appointed ambassador Emilio Izquierdo as Ecuador's permanent representative to the United Nations Organization in Geneva, the Foreign Ministry reported.

The diplomat has 46 years of experience in the career of the Ecuadorian foreign service. He holds a doctorate in Jurisprudence and holds degrees in Public and Private International Law, International Policy and Conflict Resolution.

Overseas, he has served as deputy permanent representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in New York (1998-1999) and ambassador to Italy, Turkey and Slovenia (2003-2007).
