The United States called on Tuesday to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after the launching of shells from the Gaza Strip to Israel.
According to the US mission to the UN the session is expected to take place on Wednesday.
"The Security Council should be outraged and respond to this latest episode of violence against innocent Israeli civiliansand Palestinian leaders must be held accountable for what they are allowing to happen in Gaza" US ambassador Nikki Haley said in a statement. release.
"The recent attacks from Gaza are the most important since 2014. The firing of mortars by militants reached civil installations including a kindergarten," he added.
This Tuesday about 30 projectiles were launched towards different areas of Israel. Several of the rockets managed to be intercepted by the advanced Israeli missile defense system "Steel Shield".
Hours after the attack Palestinian terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the launches.
