Unemployment subsidy applications in the US fell again

This decrease was greater than expected by analysts

The requests for unemployment benefits in the US fell last week by 1,000 and stood at 204,000, which are maintained at minimum levels for 50 years , said Thursday the Labor Department.

Regarding the average of applicants for the subsidy during the last month , a more reliable indicator of the progress of the labor market in the US , fell by 2,000 applications and stood at 208.000, according to the government report.

Requests for unemployment benefits carry 184 consecutive weeks below the figure of 300,000, a sign of good health in the US labor market.

The total number of people receiving unemployment benefits continuously decreased by 15,000 to 1.7 million, close to the lowest level since 1969.

The strength of the labor market continued during the first year and a half of the president's term , Donald Trump , and in August the unemployment rate stood at 3.9%.
