More than 30 political parties participated in the Audit of the Electoral Registry of Venezuela

More than 30 organizations with national and regional political ends participated in the installation of the first audit carried out to the Electoral Registry in Venezuela, this in view of the parliamentary elections on December 6.

The president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) Indira Alfonzo Izaguirre, explained that the electoral registry serves to update and purify the data of voters and voters registered in the electoral body.

Alfonzo reiterated the importance of this audit to strengthen the chain of trust in both participants and citizens and detailed that it is part of the 15 audits contemplated before, during and after the voting act.

He recalled that this Electoral Registry may be challenged until August 23 to correct any irregularity. The authorship of the electoral body is established in the Organic Law of Electoral Processes (LOPRE), in its articles 156 and 160.

International accompaniment

As for the international accompaniment in the December 6 elections, the highest authority of the Electoral Power indicated that this week there was a meeting with the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to review the agenda of invitations to international observers.

Alfonzó said that due to the situation of social isolation applied by Venezuela due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the authorities have evaluated with the experience of more than dozens of electoral events in the world and with their own reflections on how to rely on technologies to interact with international companions.

“The Venezuelan Electoral System is automated and that automation has no barriers, nor a territorial space. We could perfectly be linked to the world through technological tools that allow us to observe how the behavior of the system is auditable and reliable ”he emphasized.

Finally, he called on all sectors of Venezuelan society to join in the dialogue and exchange of knowledge to guarantee the exercise of suffrage.
